Uses:

As a corrosion-resistant and decorative coating for ferrous
metals(Ferrous metals include steel, cast iron, as well as alloys of iron with other metals (such as with stainless steel), wood and certain plastics.

 

Colour Range:

Black, Red, Blue, Copper, Gold, Dark Green, Yellow, Silver, White, Muted Clay, Cream & Wild Thyme.

 

Colour Mixing:

All Hammerite Hammered colours can be intermixed although
the pattern may be affected.
All Hammerite Smooth colours can be intermixed except for
Smooth Gold, Silver and Copper.

 

Appearance:

Hammerite Smooth - smooth gloss.
Note: Gold, Silver and Copper are metallic sheen finishes.

Hammerite Hammered - a smooth gloss incorporating
a hammered pattern.
Note: Pattern will vary depending on temperature, colour,
substrate and method of application.

Hammerite Satin Smooth - a satin finish (less shiny than the
Smooth & Hammered finishes).

 

Application Method:

Rusted metal surfaces, abrade surface using coarse sandpaper.

Any compatibility problems will be evident within the first hour after application.

Plastics, Hammerite paints may be used on certain types of plastic, such as the outside of drainpipes and guttering. For painted wood, sand the painted surface to remove contaminants/gloss. Hammerite Direct To Galvanised Metal Paint can be applied by brush or roller.

Hammerite should not be used on surfaces that are subject to prolonged contact with water such as the inside of guttering.

Wood, for bare wood, apply a water-based acrylic wood primer before applying Hammerite paint. Brush application: Do not thin. Colours - Black, Blue, Copper, Dark Green, Silver and White

Application:

No Primer or undercoat needed.

Applications - Aerosol

Store aerosol at room temperature for 2 hours prior to use. 
Shake can vigorously, in a vertical motion, until the agitator ball is heard and then for a further 3 minutes. 
Apply light even coats, from a distance of approximately 15cm (6 inches) and keep the aerosol moving. 
Do NOT concentrate spray in one spot.

2. Prevent unauthorised access. Apply a phosphoric acid etch primer (mordant solution) to convert the galvanised steel zinc surface prior to application of Hammerite Direct To Galvanised Metal Paint.

Painted metal surfaces, sand the painted surface to remove contaminants/gloss. Degrease with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners or diluted detergent (preferred option) both for removal of surface contaminants and soluble salts.

With its one coat application, painting these tricky metals has never been quicker or easier.

 

Application:

BRUSH - Suitable for small areas.
• Stir before use
• One coat will normally be sufficient but additional coats
may be required when applying over contrasting colours
• Ensure edges and corners are adequately coated
ROLLER - Suitable for larger, flat areas.
• Hammerite Direct To Galvanised Metal Paint is designed to be ready for use
• The edges should be brushed in first and the remaining areas quickly filled in with the roller
• For best results apply liberally using short, quick strokes

Available in six popular colours, Hammerite Direct to Galvanised Metal Paint enables you to create the look of your choice. On bare/rusty metal 2 coats are required. Refer to spray equipment manufacturer's guidelines for the correct and safe use of sprayers.

Cleaning and Storage 
After use, remove as much paint as possible from brushes before cleaning with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners.

Hammerite Direct to Galvanised Metal Paint is specially formulated as a primer, undercoat and top coat in one for application straight onto non-rusting metal, such as galvanised steel, aluminum, copper and brass.

Coventional spray application: Thin with Hammerite Brush Cleaner & Thinners at a ratio of 15% Thinners to Paint. Do not use or store any paint container by hanging on a hook.

Hammerite Direct to Rust

Hammerite Direct To Rust Metal Paint now boasts a much stronger protection against rust.

Do not mix paint from 2 tins or mix colours. 
4. Wash down thoroughly with diluted detergent, inse with clean water and allow to dry.

 

Reccomended Tools:

  1. Brush (small, flat surface area)
  2. Roller (larger surface area)

 

Drying Time:

Touch/Surface Dry: 4 hours approximately
Recoat Period: 6 hours
NOTE: Times may change depending on weather conditions.

Rinse with clean water and allow to dry.

New bare galvanised steel, abrasion is required to ensure maximum adhesion.
